On January 19, 2026, the Rewa police launched a major operation against an organized drug trafficking ring, acting on a tip-off that narcotic pills were being smuggled into the district from Ahmedabad via courier. Police from the Chorhata police station set up a checkpoint near Imli Chauraha and stopped a Bole­ro vehicle. On searching the vehicle, officers seized a total of 26,005 narcotic tablets and capsules with no legal documentation for their transportation. The seized drugs were estimated to be worth around ₹2,07,435 and the vehicle used for smuggling was also confiscated as part of the evidence.  

In the early hours of January 14–15, 2026, a private passenger bus travelling from Indore to Rewa caught fire near Bamhori Dhaba in Raisen district on the Jabalpur–Jaipur highway. The blaze is believed to have started around 1:30 AM near the rear wheel area, possibly from a tyre issue or fuel leak that quickly ignited and spread throughout the vehicle.  

On January 8, 2026, the Rewa District Court in Madhya Pradesh received an anonymous bomb threat email addressed to the Principal District and Sessions Judge’s official mail ID, stating that an explosive device (claimed as RDX/IED) had been placed in the court premises with a deadline/bomb blast warning by around 2:30 PM. The email also included demands related to a separate legal case, according to reports.  

The state government of Madhya Pradesh has approved a major road expansion project on the Rewa–Dabhora (Sirmour–Dabhora) route, aimed at improving road safety and connectivity in the region. Under this plan, the existing road—which is currently narrow and has several dangerous curves, especially through the Bardaha Valley—will be widened to an 18-metre carriageway (about 60 feet) and reconstructed using modern highway standards. The total approved budget for this project is ₹311.62 crore.  

The flight service between Rewa and Bhopal has been temporarily disrupted, causing inconvenience to passengers who depended on air travel for quick connectivity to the state capital. The suspension is mainly due to operational and commercial reasons, including low passenger occupancy on the route. As a result, travelers are currently relying on train and road transport to commute between the two cities. While Rewa Airport remains operational for other routes, officials have indicated that efforts are underway to revive the Rewa–Bhopal flight service in the future based on demand and feasibility.
